CDF Computing at LBL
This represents the current configuration of the LBL CDF computing cluster.
kfesg no longer recieves mail, and support has been put on Time and
Materials only. It is no longer backed up. It is recommended that
you not do critical work on this machine, and that you move your work
and data from it to the linux cluster as soon as possible. If this
machine dies, it will be retired, with no recovery possible.

external SCSI disks and tape drives. They are located in faculty and
staff offices.
-
Six Linux Workstations in the silicon lab:
400MHz PII with 128MB RAM, varying disk space. These are located in
the silicon lab, and are not for general use.
Existing X-terminals used as currently, may be configured to give login
prompt from the SGI system, or to telnet to the linux system.
There are currently no plans to provide dial -up service to the Linux System.
Anyone who
has ISP (internet service provider) at home can connect directly via the
internet into the central server or the workstation in their office.
This should be by ssh. Telnet to thsrv (only) is available for
cases where ssh is not available.
