The goal of the HV connections on all hybrids is to take HV+ and HV- which come in through the cable and connect HV+ to the z side finger pad and to connect HV- to the phi side finger pad. Both HV+ and HV- go through a low-pass filter made up of a 10K resistor and a 0.022uF capacitor. When HV+ arrives at the hybrid through the cable, it is connected inside the hybrid to the HV jumper trace along the right side of the hybrid, as well as to the pad marked HV+ on the diagrams. HV- is connected inside the hybrid to the pad marked HV- on the diagrams. HV- is also connected to a trace along the left side of the hybrid in line with the jumper trace on the right side. This trace is covered with dialectric, but when composite hybrids are fabricated (a 5-chip hybrid for example), this trace connects HV+ on the left 2-chip hybrid to HV- on the right 3-chip hybrid. The diagrams shown are assuming that the 7-chip hybrid has the cable connected in the middle, the 6-chip hybrid has the cable connected on the right side, and the 5-chip hybrid has the cable connected on the left side.
