Validation of the Gen6 Monte Carlo and TF, ID94 mass (4/16/07, updated Nov/20/07)

PYTHIA is now the main MC for the mass analysis. We need to compare it with HERWIG to assess if we need to change our model. I compare Gen5 and Gen6 MC first, then compare HERWIG with PYTHIA. I also look at TF's dependence on ID94 mass and deta(ID94parton-jet).

Dependencies of Pjet/E(parton) (4-16-06), updated (4-18-07, 11/20/07)

Some plots to validate the Gen6 transfer functions, TF's, in the effective propagator analysis. Only events that pass IGV match with chisq<200 are included. These plots are for the q jets from the W. Jet corrected at L5. List of plots shown. page 1 (light quarks from W, profile distributions): Top-left: profile distr. of pjet/Eparton(ID=94 level)-vs-M(ID94). Top-right: pjet/Eparton dependence on deta (parton-jet). Bottom-left: sigma(pjet/Eparton) dependence on ID=94 mass of the parton. Bottom-right: pjet/Eparton dependence on the PT of the parton. page 2 (quarks from W decay, profile distributions): Top-left: deta (jet-parton)-vs-mass of parton (ID=94 level). Top-right: pjet/Eparton-vs-eta of the parton. Bottom-left: abs value of deta-vs-ID=94 mass of the parton. Compare Gen5-Gen6 HERWIG, AND PYTHIA Gen5-Gen6

HERWIG 175 Gen5-Gen6 comparison PYTHIA 175 Gen5-Gen6 comparison Bottom line: after fixing Si's code (in PYTHIA) to take into account the multiple interactions mixed in with the partons at ID=94 level, PYTHIA Gen5 and GEN6 agree. Also HERWIG Gen5 and Gen6 agree.

Compare HERWIG with PYTHIA

Comparison between HERWIG and PYTHIA done for GEN5 and GEN6. Comparison of HERWIG-175 gen6 with PYTHIA-175 Gen6 If we compare the 175 GeV MC with 178 Gev one we see that Pj/Ep does not depend on the top mass. Comparison of HERWIG-175 Gen6 with PYTHIA-178 Gen5 Conclusions from these plots: 1. Gen5 and Gen6 MC are the same for PYTHIA and HERWIG 2. PYTHIA and HERWIG for Mtop=175 are VERY SIMILILAR 2a. Dependences of Tf's on ID94 mass, deta(parton-jet) and PT(light parton) at ID94 level are the same. 2b. Both show the same correlation between the deta and the ID94 mass (left bottom plot on page 2, the larger the mass, the larger the deta). 2c. The major difference between HERWIG and PYTHIA is the PT(ttbar). 2d. There is also a disturbing plot of Pj/Eparton-vs-eta. It shows dips at eta=2.,1.,and 0. for both MCs.
