Delta R results

Some plots that show problems with the bug in HERWIG. Delta R dependence on top mass.Delta R(tree level-Id=94). Comparison of 3 top masses in HERWIG and M=178 in PYTHIA (nobug). Difference between the 150 and 200 GeV masses is clearly visible.

Delta E(tree level-ID=94)

Plots that show the effects of the HERWIG bug and what is expected for the no-bug case (PYTHIA). Evaluate if TF's need to be done up to the ID=94 level

Difference in Energy for b quarks.Comparison of three HERWIG masses and PYTHIA. Mean Delta(E)=-1.62 GeV (rms=3.9) for PYTHIA, but distribution is narrower. After seeing the profile plots below, I suspect that the way we have calculated the ID=94 quantities in PYTHIA is not accurate.

Delta E as above, new scale. Mean Delta(E)=-1.37 GeV, rms=8.0 for HERWIG(with bug). The 150 GeV top mass is less shifted than the 200 GeV.

*1Delta Eb (tree-bpj) for HERWIG w/o bug and PYTHIA Mean Delta(E)=-0.83 GeV (rms=2.16) for HERWIG(no bug). Mean Delta(E)=-1.37 GeV (rms=8.00) for HERWIG(with bug). Mean Delta(E)=-1.62 GeV (rms=1.91) for PYTHIA

Delta Eb-vs-E_b at tree level Profile plots. Comparison of three HERWIG masses and PYTHIA. There is a 2-3 GeV difference between the shift at M(top)=150 and 200 GeV!!

*2Delta E for b-vs-E_b at tree level Profile plots. Comparison of HERWIG and PYTHIA for M=178 and HERWIG(no bug) M=175. PYTHIA drops fast below 60 GeV and it has some points below DE < -20 GeV! I suspect that probably the way we faked the ID=94 in PYTHIA is not accurate for low PT b's. HERWIG with bug fixed has less shift than PYTHIA at all DE's

Resolutions: Delta Eb(tree-bsim) and (Id=94-simulated jets)

*3Delta Eb(tree)-vs-E(bsim), Eb0-Eb1,Eb1-Esim at L7 Plots of DE for bottom: E0-Esim, E(ID=94)-Esim, E0-E(Id=94) L7 corrections. All are HERWIG(no bug). Mean Delta(E)=-0.83 GeV (rms=2.16) for dE(tree-ID=94). Mean Delta(E)= 5.77 GeV (rms=15.9) for dE(Id=94-bsim). Mean Delta(E)= 5.27 GeV (rms=15.7) for dE(tree-bsim). *4Delta Eb(tree)-vs-E(bsim), Eb0-Eb1,Eb1-Esim at L5 Plots of DE for bottom: E0-Esim, E(ID=94)-Esim, E0-E(Id=94) L5 corrections. Mean Delta(E)=-0.83 GeV (rms=2.16) for dE(tree-ID=94). Mean Delta(E)= 9.30 GeV (rms=15.4) for dE(Id=94-bsim). Mean Delta(E)= 8.86 GeV (rms=15.3) for dE(tree-bsim). *5Delta Eb(tree)-vs-E(bsim),6 bins in E_b0 at L7 rms can be read on the plots; goes from 10.82 GeV to 18.96 GeV for E_b0>120 GeV.
